A Second After Christmas

Twas a second after Christmas
and all throughout the home.
Everyone within the place
had forgotten all that went on.
They went about their daily chores
just cleaning up the mess.
After all their chores were done
they settled down to rest.
They then looked at each gift they got
and wished they'd gotten more.
First thought that comes about the gifts
is taking them back to the store.
The next day when the stores are open
your found in the return line.
Not showing a hint of thankfulness
for what was a gift of mine.
We get the cash to buy something else
and what is it that we get.
A certain pleasure and certain want
that only makes others upset.
It seems that Christmas has lost its meaning
when Jesus Christ is not found.
Homes have Santa and Christmas pie,
but Jesus is nowhere around.
We seem to let the money take over
and make Christmas a lie.
Gifts not having a bit of real love inside
telling the true meaning goodbye.
The meaning should be from the heart
to show the true Christmas way.
Having Jesus as the number one gift
and smiling all throughout the day.
Then as Christmas is a second past
the joy will still be the same.
Thankful for the gift of Jesus Christ
and so very glad that He came.
